Biography
Gwenael BERTAUT (born 1984, Reunion) is an international photographer and director currently based in Paris. He studied film photography at fine art at " beaux-arts" school and film directing in Perth Australia.
As a director he work for the advertisement industry, proposing TV commercial with his art direction.
Nowdays , he is fascinated with fashion portrait photograpy, photojournalism and documenting the world with his slight artistic touch.
His recent work has been featured in Galerie Voltaire ( blv voltaire Paris X.) in 2022.
Work
By exploring the concept of landscape in a nostalgic way, Gwenael investigates the dynamics of landscape, including the manipulation of its effects and the limits of spectacle based on our assumptions of what landscape means to us. Rather than presenting a factual reality, an illusion is fabricated to conjure the realms of our imagination.
His photos establish a link between the landscape’s reality and that imagined by its conceiver. These works focus on concrete questions that determine our existence.
